Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi CM Atishi expressed deep sorrow over the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad that claimed 241 lives. Calling it &ldquo;heartbreaking and heart-wrenching,&rdquo; Atishi urged AAP workers in Gujarat to assist injured victims and grieving families.
Addressing the media upon her arrival in Ahmedabad, she stated, &ldquo;This is a devastating incident. Many lives, including those of young medical students and locals, have been lost. I&rsquo;m here to offer my condolences and visit the trauma centre.&rdquo;
She also expressed grief over the death of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was among the deceased. &ldquo;He was a dedicated leader. My heartfelt condolences to his family and supporters,&rdquo; she said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Rupani&rsquo;s family a day earlier and shared an emotional tribute on X, saying, &ldquo;I&rsquo;m not ready to accept that Vijaybhai is no more. We were associated for years.&rdquo;
Meanwhile, Air India has initiated DGCA-mandated safety inspections across its Boeing 787 fleet. Nine aircraft have already been examined, and checks will continue as more return to India.
