Gujarat Congress Legislature Party leader Dr Tushar Chaudhary on Tuesday alleged that a state minister is linked to a non-agricultural (NA) land scam worth over Rs 200 crore, demanding the minister&rsquo;s immediate dismissal and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe.
Chaudhary claimed the alleged irregularities relate to land acquired for a Power Grid Corporation substation in Olpad taluka, Surat. He noted that land initially earmarked in Moje Takarma, Gola, and Rajnagar in August 2024 was later shifted to Moj&eacute; Olpad in August 2025. During this period, several land transactions took place, followed by rapid NA conversions.
According to Chaudhary, the land was allegedly purchased by influential individuals, including advocates Prakash Patel and Manoj Patel, relatives of State Minister Mukesh Patel, and others connected to former local BJP leaders. He claimed the pre-purchase and conversions caused a loss of around Rs 219 crore to the state exchequer.
Chaudhary questioned how a minister responsible for such losses could remain in office and called for a transparent SIT investigation, also highlighting previous controversies involving the minister&rsquo;s family, including a gun licence case involving his son.
