A shocking incident has emerged from Ahmedabad, where a rape accused, identified as Moinuddin, allegedly attacked an on-duty head constable from the city&rsquo;s Crime Branch while attempting to escape police custody. The incident took place between 12:15 pm and 12:30 pm during a crime reconstruction exercise.
According to officials, the accused tried to flee and assaulted Head Constable Bharat Rathod in the process, causing him injuries. The sudden attack triggered chaos among the team accompanying him.
Inspector Ghasura responded swiftly, taking control of the situation before the accused could cause further harm. To stop his escape attempt, the officer opened fire. One bullet struck Moinuddin in the leg, bringing him down immediately and allowing police to re-arrest him.
Both the injured head constable and the accused were rushed to Civil Hospital for urgent treatment. Hospital sources confirmed that both are currently stable and out of danger.
Police have initiated a detailed investigation and are filing additional charges against Moinuddin, including assault on a government official and attempted escape from lawful custody.
Within the police ranks, Head Constable Bharat Rathod is being praised for his bravery during the confrontation, with the department tightening monitoring across the city to curb criminal activities.
