For India, which has long invested in Dhaka&rsquo;s developmental journey through trade, connectivity, and defence training, this signals an early warning. The Yunus administration&rsquo;s outreach to Islamabad should be viewed not as betrayal but as an attempt to rebalance its external dependencies amid domestic turbulence.

As Bangladesh heads to elections in early 2026, India&rsquo;s ability to influence Dhaka&rsquo;s strategic choices will depend not on its historic role in 1971, but on how it manages its 21st-century regional diplomacy &mdash; nuanced, proactive, and resilient.
The subcontinent is quietly rearranging itself. India&rsquo;s next move will determine whether it continues to set the South Asian agenda or merely react to it.
