Due to ongoing New Year festivities, Vadodara police have implemented a new method to enforce alcohol prohibition in the state. With youth across Gujarat preparing for enthusiastic parties and gatherings, the police are on high alert to prevent drunk driving and ensure public safety.
Vadodara DCP Abhay Soni has conceptualized an innovative technique to detect drunk drivers during New Year celebrations. Vadodara police officers are now asking drivers to walk along a designated white line painted on the road. If an individual fails to pass the test, they are subjected to further checks using a breath analyzer to confirm alcohol consumption. 
In viral videos on social media, police officials can be seen asking drivers to walk in a straight line on Akota Bridge and other key locations across the city.
DCP Soni and his team have led the charge for alcohol checks to curb drunk driving incidents amid New Year celebrations. This strategy has not only enhanced the effectiveness of the drive, but also, sparked curiosity and conversation among the public. 
&ldquo;This method allows us to quickly and efficiently spot individuals who might be driving under the influence (of alcohol),&rdquo; said Soni.
The initiative is part of Gujarat police&rsquo;s efforts to ensure a safe New Year celebrations across the state. The visible presence of police on city roads serves as a reminder to revellers to celebrate responsibly and adhere to traffic regulations.
