A Delhi court on Wednesday granted seven-day interim bail to former Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) scholar Umar Khalid in the UAPA case to attend a family wedding. 
The court said that a larger conspiracy may be related to the 2020 North-East Delhi riots.
Additional Sessions Judge Sameer Bajpai&nbsp;of Karkardooma court granted interim bail for 7 days to Khalid for attending a wedding in the family.
The conditions set for the bail state that Khalid shall not contact any witness and/or any person in connection with the case.
The&nbsp;court also directed Khalid not to use social media during the interim bail period.
Other conditions for the bail include meeting only family members, relatives and friends, travelling to and remaining at his home or places where the wedding ceremonies will take place.
Khalid has been instructed to surrender himself to the jail superintendent on the evening of January 03, 2025.
In October 2022, Umar Khalid was denied bail by the Delhi High Court. He then approached the Supreme Court but later withdrew his SLP. A second regular bail plea was filed by him in the trial court which was rejected earlier this year.
Khalid&rsquo;s appeal challenging the rejection of his second regular bail plea is pending before the Delhi High Court.
The 2020 FIR was registered by Delhi police&rsquo;s Special Cell under various offences under the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
