A violent thunderstorm with heavy rainfall caused a tragic wall collapse in Gwalior&rsquo;s Shankarpur area on Friday evening, killing three people and injuring three others.
The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. near New Loha Mandi, within the limits of the Bahodapur police station. A two-storey house owned by Mahendra Singh Ingle partially collapsed during the storm, with its wall falling onto a tin shed next to a milk dairy, where several people had taken shelter from the rain.
Eight individuals were trapped under the debris. Promptly alerted, police, municipal, and fire department teams rushed to the scene and pulled out the victims. The injured were admitted to Jaya Arogya Hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Javed Khan (32), Israyal Ahmed (40), and Mafrat Khan (35). One died on the spot, while the other two succumbed to injuries at the hospital. Among the injured are Mahendra Singh Ingle and Mahir Khan (20), both reported to be in critical condition.
Officials are investigating whether structural weaknesses&mdash;possibly due to the use of single-brick walls&mdash;led to the collapse. The region has seen intense storms over the past 24 hours, as the monsoon approaches.
Authorities continue to assess the structural damage and investigate possible negligence.
