After Banaskantha district&rsquo;s Masali village, now Suki village in Kheda district has achieved the distinction of becoming the third solar village in the state and the first in that region.
The installation of a 183.27 kilowatt solar on-grid system has transformed the village, making it fully dependent on solar energy for its electricity needs.
The solar energy system, which has been installed on the rooftops of all 78 houses in Suki, was completed under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana at a total cost of ₹77.79 lakh. The central government scheme aims to provide free electricity to households through the installation of rooftop solar panels.
State Minister of Health &amp; Family Welfare and Medical Education Rushikesh Patel took to his &lsquo;X&rsquo; handle and made the project announcement on Sunday. Expressing satisfaction with the project, he said, &ldquo;Suki village becomes happy with solar energy&rdquo;.
The project aligns with the state government&rsquo;s vision to promote clean energy and reduce carbon emissions across rural areas.
With 100% of the houses in Suki now equipped with solar panels, the village is set to benefit from a consistent and sustainable source of energy. This solar initiative is expected to provide long-term energy savings for residents and improve the overall quality of life in the village.
As Gujarat continues to expand its renewable energy footprint, Suki followed in the footsteps of Modhera and Masali villages in becoming fully solar-powered.
