Four Dead, 27 Injured in Midnight Explosion at Firecracker Unit in Fatuhiwala
 Four persons lost their lives and 27 others sustained injuries following a powerful explosion in a firecracker manufacturing unit at Fatuhiwala village in the Lambi subdivision during the early hours of Friday.
The blast, which occurred shortly after 1 am, caused widespread panic among the approximately 40 workers present at the time. Many had reportedly retired for the night following a late shift.
&ldquo;We were asleep after completing our shift when a massive blast shook the building. Many of us were trapped beneath the rubble,&rdquo; recounted Arun Kumar, a factory worker who managed to escape.
Local residents described the facility as a two-storey structure, with several rooms on the upper floor. The force of the explosion brought down parts of the building, leaving multiple workers buried under debris.
Emergency services, including police personnel and teams from the fire department, responded swiftly to the scene and initiated rescue efforts. As of the time of filing this report, operations were still underway, with some individuals believed to be trapped inside the remains of the structure.
Lambi Deputy Superintendent of Police Jaspal Singh confirmed that four bodies had been recovered, and 27 injured individuals had been transported to AIIMS, Bathinda, for treatment. &ldquo;This was a licensed firecracker unit situated away from residential dwellings. A detailed investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the blast,&rdquo; he stated.
Authorities have yet to ascertain what triggered the explosion. A forensic team is expected to arrive to assist in the probe.
Local officials expressed concern that the casualty count could rise, given the scale of the destruction and ongoing recovery efforts.
