In yet another borewell incident, an 18-year-old girl fell into a 540-feet deep borewell in Kandhera village, Bhuj, early on Monday morning. The incident has sparked panic across the region, amid recent cases of children getting stuck in borewells and rescue failure. 
The daughter of farm labourers, the girl slipped into the borewell at around 5.30-6 am while walking in the fields near her home. Initially, she could be heard calling out from below, but her subsequent silence has added to the family&rsquo;s and villagers&rsquo; distress.
The Bhuj district administration, along with the fire department and the 108 ambulance team, responded promptly to the incident. Rescue efforts began at 9.45 am. 
The girl is being supplied oxygen through a pipeline and a special camera is assessing her condition.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has also been called in to assist with the rescue operation.
According to reports, the girl had a fight with two men who had visited her on Sunday night. She had recently got engaged and was to be married soon. Police are investigating whether she tried to end her life by jumping into the borewell or was pushed in there.&nbsp;
