The Chandigarh administration on Thursday informed the Punjab and Haryana High Court that Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh&rsquo;s <span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%; font-family: 'Georgia',serif; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family: Shruti; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-bidi; mso-ansi-language: EN-IN; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;">&lsquo;Dil-Luminati&rsquo; concert, which was held on December 14, breached prescribed noise limits. It also called for &ldquo;strict action&rdquo; against violators.
On December 13, the court&nbsp;had permitted&nbsp;Dosanjh to hold a concert in Chandigarh on December 14. However, it had directed organizers to adhere to noise limits, maintaining ambient air quality standards with a maximum noise level of 75 decibels. It had warned of legal action, if the condition was violated. 
As per the affidavit filed on behalf of the union territory&rsquo;s administration, noise levels were monitored at various locations during the singer&rsquo;s concert. It was observed that they exceeded the limits prescribed under the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000.
&ldquo;Accordingly, action under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 and Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000 has been proposed vide letter,&rdquo; the affidavit read.
The development comes after a public interest litigation was filed by Chandigarh resident, Ranjeet Singh, seeking directions to UT administration to submit a detailed report on traffic management, crowd control, noise pollution, for the concert.
However, stating that there is no urgency in the matter, a bench comprising Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Anil Kshetarpal adjourned the hearing to first week of January. 
Senior advocate Amit Jhanji appearing on behalf of the UT administration, submitted that all necessary measures were taken to ensure proper compliance under relevant laws. He added that three committees were constituted to monitor the concert and showcause has been sent to violators. &nbsp;
In response, senior advocate Akshay Bhan appearing for the organizers sought time to file a reply.
