Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman received ₹5,304 crore in dividends from three public sector banks for the financial year 2024&ndash;25. Punjab National Bank contributed ₹2,335 crore, Bank of India ₹1,353 crore, and Indian Bank ₹1,616 crore.
These payouts follow recent dividend contributions from SBI (₹8,076.84 crore) and Bank of Baroda (₹2,762 crore), further boosting government finances.
India&rsquo;s top PSUs across banking, energy, and power sectors have reported strong Q4 profits. SBI posted a net profit of ₹18,643 crore in Q4, pushing its annual profit to ₹70,901 crore. LIC clocked ₹19,013 crore in Q4 and ₹48,151 crore for the year.
Coal India (₹9,604 crore), IOC (₹7,265 crore), ONGC (₹6,448 crore), NTPC (₹7,897 crore), Power Finance Corporation (₹8,358 crore), and Power Grid (₹4,143 crore) also reported healthy earnings.
These profits contribute not only through dividends but also via corporate taxes, helping the government meet its fiscal deficit target of 4.8% of GDP, as per the Controller General of Accounts.
Total revenue receipts stood at ₹30.36 lakh crore (98.3% of RE), with PSU earnings forming a crucial part of non-tax income. High capex by these enterprises continues to support economic growth and job creation.
