A mild earthquake measuring 3.2 on the Richter scale struck parts of Haryana late Monday evening, triggering brief panic among residents. 
The National Center for Seismology said the tremors were recorded at 9:22 pm, with the epicenter located in Sonipat at a depth of 5 kilometers.
As buildings shook, several people rushed out of their homes, though no injuries or damage to property were reported.
This is the second earthquake reported in the district in recent months. 
On September 27, a 3.4-magnitude earthquake hit Sonipat at 1:47 am, prompting similar reactions from residents.
The Delhi-NCR region, which falls under Seismic Zone 4, is considered a moderate to high-risk earthquake-prone area due to its proximity, approximately 250 kilometers, to the Himalayan collision zone. 
The presence of multiple active fault lines, including the Delhi-Haridwar Ridge, Mahendragarh-Dehradun Fault, Sohna Fault, and Yamuna River Lineament, adds to the region&rsquo;s vulnerability.
