Until then, much of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will remain under intense heat, with daytime temperatures running 2&ndash;3&deg;C above average and high humidity exacerbating discomfort. From Wednesday, a slight drop in temperatures is expected.
On Monday, Madurai Airport recorded the state&rsquo;s highest temperature at 41&deg;C, while Erode and Karur Paramathi also exceeded 40&deg;C, highlighting widespread heatwave conditions. According to B. Amudha, additional in-charge of RMC Chennai, pre-monsoon systems over the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are fueling cloud development from the south Arabian Sea through the Maldives, Comorin region, and south Bay of Bengal, which will bring rain to Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
Forecast models indicate that on May 14, the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Erode, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Tirupattur, Salem, and Tiruvannamalai districts could receive heavy showers. Isolated rainfall may persist in Tirupattur and Krishnagiri through Thursday and Friday. Scattered rain, accompanied by occasional thunderstorms and gusty winds reaching 40&ndash;50 km/h, is likely across the state until May 18. With the Southwest Monsoon expected to arrive in Kerala around May 27, rainfall in Tamil Nadu may intensify further.
