Former NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede has claimed that his family is receiving hate and threatening messages from Pakistan, the UAE and Bangladesh after he filed a ₹2 crore defamation case against Red Chillies Entertainment and Netflix over the web series The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, directed by Aryan Khan.
Wankhede said the messages, which targeted his wife and sister, began shortly after he approached the Delhi High Court. He has reported the threats to law enforcement authorities. &ldquo;This isn&rsquo;t about publicity, it&rsquo;s about self-respect, dignity, and the honour of every officer who has served the nation,&rdquo; he said.
The former officer alleges that a character in the series closely resembles him, portraying him in a defamatory and disrespectful manner. The show reportedly draws inspiration from the 2021 &ldquo;Cordelia cruise&rdquo; drug case, in which Aryan Khan was arrested and later cleared of all charges.
The Delhi High Court has issued summons to Red Chillies and Netflix in connection with the defamation suit. Wankhede is seeking ₹2 crore in damages and a stay on the streaming of the series.
Responding to the controversy, Aryan Khan stated that the series was intended to be &ldquo;self-deprecating, not disrespectful,&rdquo; rejecting claims of targeting individuals.
Wankhede&rsquo;s legal action has reignited debate over the limits of creative freedom and personal defamation in India&rsquo;s entertainment industry.
