Popular social media personality Orhan Awatramani, widely known as Orry, has been summoned by the Mumbai Police&rsquo;s Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) in connection with a major drug syndicate linked to the Dawood Ibrahim network. His name surfaced after the interrogation of Mohammad Salim Mohammad Suhail Shaikh, a drug trafficker recently deported from the UAE.
According to investigators, Shaikh revealed details about high-profile rave parties held in Mumbai and Dubai, attended by Bollywood actors, prominent influencers, and political figures. Shaikh is known to be a close aide of fugitive drug kingpin Salim Dola, a key member of the Dawood network.
<h3 dir="ltr">Celebrities Allegedly Present at Parties</h3>
During his interrogation, Shaikh reportedly claimed that he organised lavish parties attended by well-known film personalities, including actors, producers, and the son of Dawood Ibrahim&rsquo;s late sister Haseena Parkar. Orry&rsquo;s name also appeared on that list.
ANC officials stated that these allegations are still unverified as the investigation remains in its early stages. The agency intends to question Orry first to determine whether others mentioned by Shaikh will need to be summoned.
Orry&rsquo;s representative appeared before the ANC on Thursday and informed police that he is currently out of the city and can join the investigation after November 25. Officials said a new date will be communicated to him soon.
<h3 dir="ltr">Probe Traces Back to 2022 Mephedrone Case</h3>
The ongoing investigation stems from an August 2022 case in which the crime branch and Ghatkopar ANC arrested a Worli resident with mephedrone worth ₹1.19 lakh. Several peddlers were arrested subsequently, leading to a breakthrough in March 2024 when a mephedrone-manufacturing unit was uncovered on a Sangli farm.
Authorities believe this facility was operated by Dawood aide Salim Dola along with his son, Tahe, who was deported from the UAE in June. Another relative was deported in July.
Shaikh, arrested on November 5 after deportation from the UAE, confessed to setting up multiple drug-processing units and running a supply chain dealing in cocaine, MDMA tablets, hashish, charas, and mephedrone, according to investigators.
The ANC is now expanding the probe, with Orry&rsquo;s questioning expected to play a key role in determining the next steps.
