Influencer and socialite Orhan Awatramani, popularly known as Orry, has been summoned by the Mumbai Police Anti-Narcotics Cell for questioning in the ₹252 crore mephedrone case that unfolded after a long-running investigation beginning in 2022. He has been asked to appear before investigators at 10 am on Thursday.

The case traces back to March 2024, when Mumbai Police discovered a large-scale mephedrone manufacturing facility at a farmhouse in Sangli, Maharashtra. Officers seized more than 126 kg of mephedrone, valued at around ₹252 crore. Investigators later linked the operation to wanted trafficker Salim Dola and his son Taher, with raw materials reportedly sourced through an associate based in Surat.
As the investigation expanded, police uncovered a sophisticated distribution network. The drugs were allegedly transported in high-end vehicles such as Mercedes and BMWs to avoid detection, while profits were reportedly moved abroad through hawala channels. The chain of events leading to this breakthrough began in August 2022 with the arrest of a Nagpada resident, which eventually guided police to the Sangli facility.
<h3 dir="ltr">Dubai Links and Celebrity Mentions</h3>
Orry&rsquo;s name surfaced after the arrest and deportation of Mohammad Salim Mohammad Suhail Shaikh, considered an aide of fugitive trafficker Salim Dola. Brought from Dubai earlier this month, Shaikh reportedly made several claims during interrogation, including organising luxury parties in Dubai and Mumbai attended by celebrities, influencers, and public figures. Among the names mentioned were actors such as Nora Fatehi and Shraddha Kapoor, producer duo Abbas-Mustan, rapper Loka, politician Zeeshan Siddique, and Orry.
Police clarified that these statements are still being verified and form only one part of the broader inquiry. Orry has now been called to clarify his connection, if any, to Shaikh&rsquo;s claims. Investigators may question other public figures based on his statement.
<h3 dir="ltr">Orry&rsquo;s Earlier Legal Incident</h3>
This is not the first time Orry has faced legal scrutiny in 2024. In March, he was named in an FIR in Jammu and Kashmir after he and others were accused of consuming alcohol in a hotel near the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, where such activity is strictly prohibited.

For now, Mumbai Police consider Shaikh an important link in uncovering a larger international narcotics and hawala network linked to traffickers in India and Dubai. Orry&rsquo;s questioning is expected to play a key role in determining whether celebrities named during interrogation had any involvement, or whether the claims were attempts by the accused to deflect attention. The scope of the investigation may expand significantly once these statements are evaluated.
