The much-awaited trailer for Kantara: A Legend &ndash; Chapter 1 was unveiled on Monday by stars Hrithik Roshan, Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Sivakarthikeyan. Directed by Rishab Shetty, the film serves as a prequel to his 2022 blockbuster Kantara, diving deeper into the folklore and spiritual roots of the Daiva Kola/Bhuta Kola tradition.
The trailer opens with a young Shiva questioning his father&rsquo;s disappearance during a ritual performance deep inside the forest. The story then shifts to his ancestors, who resisted oppression with divine intervention. Actor Gulshan Devaiah appears as a ruthless prince, while Rukmini Vasanth plays a princess whose romance with Shiva&rsquo;s ancestor disrupts the social order. The trailer closes with Shetty&rsquo;s character seemingly experiencing possession during a Daiva Kola ritual for the first time.
Fans have responded with excitement, hailing the visuals and folklore-driven narrative. Many expressed hopes that the film would cross ₹1000 crore at the box office, with some predicting national and international recognition for the Kannada industry.
Produced by Hombale Films under Vijay Kiragandur and Chaluve Gowda, the movie features music by B Ajaneesh Loknath. Kantara: A Legend &ndash; Chapter 1 is set for a worldwide release on October 2, hitting screens in Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali, and English.
