Hrithik Roshan has joined the growing list of Indian celebrities who have turned to the courts to protect their personality rights, as the Delhi High Court granted him legal protection against the unauthorised use of his name, image, and likeness &mdash; with one notable exception.
While Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora directed the removal of content infringing upon the actor&rsquo;s personality rights, the court refused to order the immediate takedown of fan pages dedicated to Hrithik Roshan.
&ldquo;We can&rsquo;t have fan clubs taken down at this ex parte stage. Let those fans come; Mr. Roshan will then have to seek takedown of each fan club. He can&rsquo;t pick and choose,&rdquo; Justice Arora stated, as quoted by Law Beat. 
The judge further added that Meta would provide the actor&rsquo;s legal team with BSI (Basic Subscriber Information) details of the fan page operators, who could then be impleaded before the next hearing on March 27, 2026.
The case adds Hrithik Roshan to an exclusive but expanding list of public figures who have sought legal protection over their public persona, including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Karan Johar, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, and Sudhir Chaudhary.
According to legal experts, personality rights have two key aspects:
1.Publicity rights&ndash; protecting a celebrity&rsquo;s name and image from commercial exploitation without permission.
2. Privacy rights &ndash; ensuring the individual&rsquo;s right to be left alone.
As per an explainer from&nbsp;Lakshmikumaran &amp; Sridharan Attorneys, these rights are essential in today&rsquo;s digital age, especially with the rise of artificial intelligence and online impersonation.
For now, Hrithik Roshan&rsquo;s name, image, and likeness remain protected under the court&rsquo;s directive &mdash; except for fan-run pages, which will continue to operate until further orders.
