The Hindi short film GIRAH, crafted by a talented team of filmmakers from Ahmedabad, has been officially selected for the prestigious Egyptian American Film Festival (EAFF) to be held at the Centre for the Arts, Staten Island, New York, from October 31 to November 4, 2025.
GIRAH captures the essence of middle-class family life in India, exploring emotions of love, longing, and silent tension that often go unnoticed in daily routines. The film reflects how simple celebrations can bring out the hidden layers of relationships and unspoken bonds within families.
The short film is written and directed by Pratik Rathod, who also stars alongside Hetal Shrivastav. The creative team includes Dhrupad Shukla as Director of Photography and Co-Producer, Zeal Pithva as Editor, Devkrit Baluni handling Sound Design, Shubham Sengupta composing the Music, and Dana Soniya and Suyog Tamanekhar designing the Poster. Jeet Ajawalia and Het Panchal served as Creative Producers, with guidance from veteran filmmaker Paresh Kamdar.
The filmmakers from Ahmedabad see this global recognition as a significant milestone for regional cinema. They believe GIRAH&rsquo;s success will motivate more Gujarati storytellers to create meaningful and globally appealing cinema rooted in local culture and emotions.
