Ranveer Singh&rsquo;s latest release Dhurandhar continues its impressive performance at the box office, maintaining steady momentum more than a week after its release. The film, which hit theatres on December 5, has now crossed the ₹230 crore mark in total collections.
In its first week, Dhurandhar earned ₹207.25 crore at the domestic box office. On day eight, the film added an estimated ₹32 crore nett in India, taking its overall domestic earnings to approximately ₹239.25 crore so far.
With these numbers, Dhurandhar has surpassed the lifetime domestic collections of several major Bollywood releases, including Raid 2, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani and Sikandar. The film has also outperformed recent big-ticket releases in terms of early box office traction.
The film has received praise for its performances, particularly that of Ranveer Singh, who essays a restrained and intense role unlike his previous work. The narrative focuses on the psychological conflict of an undercover operative torn between maintaining his cover and confronting national humiliation. While the runtime has been described as lengthy, the emotional depth and strong ensemble cast keep the audience engaged.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar follows the journey of Indian spy Hamza, who infiltrates Pakistan to join the gang of Rehman Dakait. Inspired by real-life incidents such as the 2001 Parliament attack and the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, the film explores themes rooted in the India-Pakistan conflict through a large-scale espionage drama.
Apart from Ranveer Singh, the film features Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun in pivotal roles. A sequel to Dhurandhar is already in the works and is slated for a theatrical release on March 19 next year.
