The veteran actor expressed his desire for a grandson to carry forward his legacy and joked about feeling like a "ladies' hostel warden" due to being surrounded by women at home. His comments have sparked widespread criticism online, with many calling them outdated and reinforcing gender stereotypes.
In a viral video from the event, Chiranjeevi can be heard saying,&nbsp;"When I'm at home, it doesn't feel like I'm surrounded by my granddaughters; it feels like I'm a ladies' hostel warden, surrounded by ladies all around."&nbsp;He went on to add,&nbsp;"I keep wishing and telling (Ram) Charan, at least this time, have a boy so that our legacy continues, but his daughter is the apple of his eye... I'm scared that he might again have a girl."
The remark has not gone down well with many social media users, who called it regressive. A user on X (formerly Twitter) questioned Chiranjeevi&rsquo;s mindset, asking,&nbsp;"Legacy isn&rsquo;t about gender, it&rsquo;s about the values you pass on. If you think only a son can continue your name, maybe it&rsquo;s time to question what that name truly stands for."
Chiranjeevi&rsquo;s son, actor Ram Charan, and his wife Upasana Konidela welcomed their daughter Klin Kaara Konidela in June 2023 after 11 years of marriage. Many fans and netizens expressed disappointment, urging the megastar to rethink his perspective on legacy and gender equality.
