The entire state of Assam is set to pay tribute to the late musical icon Zubeen Garg by halting all other movie screenings and exclusively showcasing his final film, Roi Roi Binale, across cinemas from October 31, 2025.
Following Garg&rsquo;s sudden death on September 19, the Assam film fraternity and the state&rsquo;s cinema associations decided to suspend the release of all other films, including Thamma, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, Kantara: A Legend Chapter &ndash; 1, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, Jolly LLB 3, and Regretting You. Theatres will also refrain from screening new national and international releases such as Baahubali: The Epic, Single Salma, The Taj Story, and The Black Phone 2.
The emotional decision ensures that every screen in Assam will exclusively play Roi Roi Binale as a mark of respect to Garg&rsquo;s immense contribution to Assamese music and cinema. Ticket sales for the film have already broken records, with most weekend shows sold out and early morning screenings being added in cities like Guwahati and Tezpur to meet overwhelming demand.
Directed by Rajesh Bhuyan and written by Zubeen Garg himself, Roi Roi Binale is a musical romantic drama produced under Zeal Creations and i-Creation. The film stars Zubeen Garg, Mousumi Alifa, Joy Kashyap, and Achurjya Borpatra, marking Garg&rsquo;s final appearance on screen.
Zubeen Garg passed away in Singapore on September 19, 2025, after an unfortunate drowning incident during a yacht outing near St John&rsquo;s Island. The Singapore Police Force confirmed that preliminary investigations showed no foul play, though a coroner&rsquo;s inquiry is underway to review the circumstances of his death.
