As polling for the second and final phase of the Bihar Assembly elections begins, Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor urged voters to come out in large numbers and ensure a record turnout. He appealed to citizens to vote for change, better education, and employment opportunities for the youth, emphasising that their decision today would shape Bihar&rsquo;s next five years.
Kishor encouraged people to surpass the voter turnout of the previous phase and build a new system that focuses on education, jobs, and an end to corruption. He warned that missing the opportunity today could mean continuing under the same flawed governance for another term.
Meanwhile, Bihar Minister and BJP candidate from the Harsidhi seat, Krishnanandan Paswan, expressed confidence in the NDA&rsquo;s victory after casting his vote. He mentioned offering prayers before voting and acknowledged that minor technical issues can occur with voting machines, but said polling was smooth. Paswan asserted that the NDA would secure a comfortable win with a margin of around 50,000 votes.

Patna: Voting for the second and final phase of the Bihar Assembly elections began at 7 AM across 122 of the 243 constituencies, marking a decisive day in the state&rsquo;s political battle. Polling will continue till 6 PM, concluding an intense campaign that witnessed sharp exchanges between the ruling NDA and the Mahagathbandhan (MGB) alliance.

A total of 1,302 candidates&mdash;including 136 women and one third-gender candidate&mdash;are contesting in this crucial round, covering the central, western, and northern parts of Bihar. Nearly 3.7 crore voters, comprising 1.95 crore menand 1.74 crore women, are expected to exercise their democratic right across 45,399 polling stations, the highest number ever set up for a single phase in the state.
Among the key contestants are former Deputy Chief Ministers Renu Devi and Tarkishore Prasad, and Congress leader Ajeet Sharma, alongside several regional heavyweights.
The first phase, held on 6 November, recorded a historic voter turnout of 64.66%, setting the tone for today&rsquo;s high-stakes battle. Analysts suggest the 15 key swing constituencies&mdash;including Barbigha, Bachhwara, Ramgarh, Bhorey, Chakai, Kurhani, Dehri, Bakhri, Matihani, Hilsa, Harlakhi, Chenari, Valmiki Nagar, Govindganj, and Warsaliganj&mdash;could decisively shape the final outcome.
These seats have a history of defying political trends, often tilting the balance of power in Bihar&rsquo;s fiercely competitive electoral landscape.
