India&rsquo;s economy has grown threefold over the last decade, with its GDP rising from ₹106.57 lakh crore to ₹331.03 lakh crore in 2024&ndash;25. According to official data released Sunday, GDP growth for the current year stands at a solid 6.5%, underpinned by robust domestic demand and expanding private investment.
The Reserve Bank of India expects this pace to hold steady into 2025&ndash;26. Supporting this outlook, the UN forecasts 6.3% growth this year, and 6.4% next, while the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) pegs growth at 6.4&ndash;6.7%.
Fuelled by strong rural and urban consumption, businesses are operating at near-full capacity. Public infrastructure investments and stable borrowing costs have further boosted the economy, even as the global backdrop remains uncertain.
India&rsquo;s inflation has eased significantly. In May 2025, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation dropped to 2.82%&mdash;its lowest since February 2019. Food inflation, a key concern for households, fell to just 0.99%, driven by falling prices of vegetables and grains.
The Reserve Bank expects inflation to remain close to or slightly below its 4% medium-term target, offering continued relief to consumers and businesses.
Meanwhile, India&rsquo;s capital markets are showing record performance, converting household savings into economic investment. The markets outperformed several global peers by end-2024, reflecting both domestic and foreign investor confidence.
Despite global headwinds, India continues to shine as a fast-growing, stable economy.
