The missile tested on Monday reportedly has a range of 120 kilometres, a short-range battlefield weapon intended for tactical use, while Saturday&rsquo;s launch featured the Abdali ballistic missile with a 450-kilometre reach.

The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy believed to be aligned with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), initially claimed responsibility before retracting in an unconvincing statement citing a &lsquo;hacked&rsquo; account&mdash;an all-too-familiar tactic used to retain plausible deniability.
The Pakistan military claimed the latest test was aimed at validating the missile's enhanced accuracy and navigation capabilities, and ensuring the operational readiness of frontline troops. While official statements have framed the tests as part of routine preparedness drills, such events rarely occur in isolation from geopolitical context&mdash;especially in South Asia&rsquo;s heavily securitised India-Pakistan dynamic.
The country's political leadership swiftly followed up with statements of resolve. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared full confidence in the military&rsquo;s preparedness, underscoring that &ldquo;Pakistan&rsquo;s defence is in strong hands&rdquo;&mdash;a phrase repeated often in moments of domestic unease or perceived external threat. Similarly, the high praise extended by the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and the Chief of Army Staff to participating troops and engineers is part of a broader pattern of internal morale building.
New Delhi, meanwhile, has maintained silence over the tests themselves, but prior to the launch, government officials had warned that such moves would be seen as &ldquo;reckless provocation.&rdquo; Prime Minister Narendra Modi&rsquo;s statement granting &ldquo;full operational freedom&rdquo; to the Indian armed forces in the wake of the Kashmir killings has already heightened the alert status along the LoC and in forward airbases.
India, with its own advanced missile arsenal and robust satellite surveillance, remains vigilant, though not reactionary. The military establishment in South Block views such tests as part of Pakistan&rsquo;s conventional-nuclear mix strategy aimed at deterring Indian retaliation while retaining strategic ambiguity.
The missile launches, therefore, are not mere technical drills but represent calibrated moves in a broader chessboard of deterrence, coercion, and psychological warfare.
