Modelled on the principle of Israel&rsquo;s <a title="Iron Dome" href="https://www.benefitnews24.com/opinion/iron-dome-s-true-test-amid-iran-s-missile-barrage/14136" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Iron Dome</a> but envisioned as more comprehensive, the mission will merge advanced surveillance, interception systems, and precision-strike capabilities. It will integrate the Integrated Air Command and Control System (IACCS) with an indigenous missile and rocket force to create a seamless, real-time shield over both military and civilian zones.
Under the National Security Shield, the government intends to bring railway stations, hospitals, temples, bus terminals, and other public areas under constant security monitoring. This involves coordinated work with multiple security agencies to install state-of-the-art sensors, radars, and rapid-response units.

India&rsquo;s challenge lies in scale. Unlike Israel&rsquo;s compact geography, India must shield vast, varied terrain against threats from multiple vectors &mdash; from hypersonic missiles to swarm drones. The cost of sustaining such a network could be staggering, requiring not just technology but long-term political will, steady funding, and domestic production capacity.
If India achieves full operational capability by 2035, the system could serve as both a deterrent and a rapid-response shield, strengthening strategic resilience. But its success will hinge on continuous upgrades, realistic simulations, and the ability to counter simultaneous, high-volume attacks.
