The Indian Army&rsquo;s White Knight Corps stated that an Army personnel was injured during a gunfire exchange with an intruder at the Nagrota Military Station in Jammu. A search operation has been launched to locate the suspect.
&ldquo;Upon noticing suspicious movement near the perimeter, the alert sentry at Nagrota Military Station issued a challenge, resulting in a brief exchange of fire with the suspect. The sentry sustained a minor injury. Search operations are underway to track the intruder(s),&rdquo; the White Knight Corps posted on X late Saturday night.
The incident occurred simultaneously with Pakistan&rsquo;s drone attacks and artillery shelling in various areas along the Line of Control and International Border, including Nagrota.
This escalation came just hours after India and Pakistan had agreed to a cessation of hostilities.
Meanwhile, a complete blackout has been enforced in several areas of Punjab&mdash;Pathankot, Ludhiana, Moga, Ferozepur, and Jalandhar&mdash;on Saturday evening.
India stated on Saturday that Pakistan had violated the understanding reached earlier that night between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of the two countries regarding the cessation of firing and military action. The Indian Army is responding and addressing the border intrusions accordingly.
At a special briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri called the action a breach of the earlier understanding and said India takes "very serious note of these violations."
India has urged Pakistan to take appropriate measures to address the breaches and respond to the situation with seriousness and responsibility.
Foreign Secretary Misri added that India's Armed Forces have been instructed to respond firmly to any further violations along both the International Border and the Line of Control.
&ldquo;For the past few hours, there have been repeated violations of the understanding reached earlier this evening between the DGMOs of India and Pakistan. This is a breach of the agreement concluded today. The Armed Forces are delivering an adequate and appropriate response, and we take these violations extremely seriously,&rdquo; he said.
&ldquo;We urge Pakistan to take appropriate action and address the matter responsibly. The Armed Forces are maintaining heightened vigilance and have been directed to respond robustly to any repeat incidents along the International Border or the LoC,&rdquo; he added.
India had launched Operation Sindoor on 7 May in retaliation to the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam on 22 April, which claimed 26 lives.
India responded by striking nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
In retaliation, Pakistan escalated tensions through unprovoked use of drones and artillery fire.
