Two terrorists were killed by security forces in an ongoing encounter in the Keran sector of Kupwara district, officials confirmed on Saturday.
The operation was launched jointly by security agencies on Friday following specific intelligence inputs regarding a possible infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC).
Alert troops detected suspicious movement near the border and challenged the infiltrators, who opened indiscriminate fire. 
The forces retaliated, leading to an exchange of gunfire.
In a post on X, Chinar Corps stated, &ldquo;Operation PIMPLE, Keran, Kupwara: On 07 Nov 2025, based on specific intelligence input from agencies, regarding infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched in the Keran sector of Kupwara. Alert troops spotted suspicious activity and challenged which resulted in terrorists opening indiscriminate fire. Contact established and terrorists trapped.&rdquo;
The post further added, &ldquo;Two terrorists have been neutralised by the security forces in the ongoing operation.&rdquo;
Officials said the search operation continues as security personnel comb the area to rule out the presence of more infiltrators.
Earlier on October 14, two terrorists were killed when the Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid along the LoC in Kupwara district. 
At that time, alert troops had noticed suspicious movement near the border and swiftly responded to prevent the breach.
Jammu and Kashmir shares a 740-kilometre-long Line of Control, while the International Border spans 240 kilometres. 
The LoC passes through Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora districts in the Valley, as well as parts of Jammu district, while the International Border extends across Jammu, Samba, and Kathua districts.
