The sacred city of Ayodhya has once again made history with a grand celebration of the ninth edition of its annual Deepotsav. Over 2.6 million earthen lamps were lit simultaneously on 56 ghats, setting two new Guinness World Records and captivating the world with a breathtaking spectacle of faith and light.
<h3 data-start="391" data-end="434">A New World Record with 26 Lakh Diyas</h3>
In just 15 minutes, 26,17,215 diyas (earthen lamps) illuminated the ghats of the Saryu River, creating a radiant sea of light that set a new global benchmark. Alongside this, 2,128 Vedic scholars conducted a Maha Aarti, marking another historic record. The announcements of these two achievements were made on-site, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was presented with the official Guinness certificates.
<h3 data-start="897" data-end="934">Symbolic Coronation of Lord Ram</h3>
As part of the grand celebrations, the Chief Minister performed a symbolic coronation of Lord Ram at the Ramkatha Park, drawing national and global attention. He then visited the sanctum of the Ram Mandir, Ayodhya, bowed before Ram Lalla, offered prayers, and lit the inaugural diya at the temple&rsquo;s main entrance to formally begin the Deepotsav.
<h3 data-start="1303" data-end="1341">Spectacular Drone and Light Show</h3>
Once the Deepotsav began, the entire city of Ayodhya lit up. Over 2,600,000 diyas shimmered on the ghats while 2,128 Vedic scholars performed the Maha Aarti at the riverfront. As darkness fell, 1,100 drones lit up the night sky, forming stunning images of Lord Ram, accompanied by a laser and drone show at Ram Ki Paudi that left the crowd in awe.
<h3 data-start="1694" data-end="1730">Political Attack on Opposition</h3>
During his address, CM Yogi Adityanath launched a strong attack on the opposition. He recalled that when his government decided to organize the Deepotsav in Ayodhya in 2017, the opposition criticized it. He further reminded that during the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, Congress leaders called Lord Ram a &ldquo;myth,&rdquo; while the Samajwadi Party fired bullets at Ram devotees.
He also targeted opposition parties for allegedly rejecting invitations to last year&rsquo;s consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple, accusing them of &ldquo;bowing before the Babri grave&rdquo; but refusing to honor Lord Ram&rsquo;s birthplace.
<h3 data-start="2326" data-end="2378">Ayodhya - A Fusion of Heritage and Development</h3>
Highlighting the city&rsquo;s transformation, CM Yogi stated, &ldquo;Ayodhya today presents an extraordinary blend of development and heritage.&rdquo; He added that across Uttar Pradesh, more than 1.51 crore diyas are being lit, symbolizing the growing spiritual and cultural prominence of Ayodhya.
This year&rsquo;s Deepotsav was not just a celebration but a powerful statement of cultural pride, faith, and unity reinforcing Ayodhya&rsquo;s place on the world map as the eternal city of Lord Ram.
