Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, the country&rsquo;s largest automobile manufacturer, has announced a recall of 39,506 Grand Vitara SUVs after detecting an issue with the fuel level indicator and warning light in select vehicles.
According to the company&rsquo;s regulatory filing, the affected units were manufactured between December 9, 2024 and April 29, 2025. In some vehicles, the fuel indicator may fail to show accurate fuel levels, prompting the company to inspect and replace the speedometer assembly free of cost.
Maruti Suzuki said that all impacted customers will be contacted directly by authorised dealer workshops to schedule the inspection and replacement.
The recall comes at a time when the automaker is witnessing strong market momentum. In October, Maruti Suzuki posted a 7 percent growth in total sales, reaching 2,20,894 units, up from 2,06,434 units in the same month last year. Domestic sales, including commercial vehicle numbers, surged to an all-time high of 1,80,675 units.
Earlier this month, the company crossed the landmark of 3 crore cumulative car sales in the Indian market. The Maruti Alto continues to dominate as the highest-selling model with over 47 lakh units, followed by the Wagon R at 34 lakh, and the Swift at 32 lakh units.
The strong demand also boosted the company's financials. Maruti Suzuki reported a 7.94 percent rise in consolidated net profit, reaching Rs 3,349 crore for Q2 FY26, compared to Rs 3,102.5 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
