Om Birla, nominated by the BJP, has been re-elected as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. With the numbers favoring the ruling NDA coalition, Birla secured victory to retain the Speaker&rsquo;s post.&nbsp;
Prime Minister Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi congratulated him and escorted him to the Speaker&rsquo;s chair following his win. Prime Minister Modi noted that Birla's prior experience as Speaker would be instrumental in guiding the country forward. His opponent, Congress candidate K Suresh, filed his nomination after the ruling party and Opposition failed to reach a consensus the previous evening.
The opposition INDIA bloc nominated K Suresh to contest against Om Birla, who has now been elected to serve as Speaker for a second term. Supriya Sule, NCP (SP) leader and Baramati MP, along with other leaders from the INDIA bloc, supported K Suresh's candidacy by moving the motion in his favor.&nbsp;
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Om Birla on behalf of the House, emphasizing the significance of assuming the Speaker's role for the second time during the Amrit Kaal. Modi expressed confidence in Birla's experience, hoping for his guidance over the next five years. &ldquo;Apke chehre par ye mithi mithi muskaan poore sadan ko prasann rakhti hai&rdquo;. Modi noted the historical significance of Birla's reelection, comparing it to Balram Jakhar's achievement of serving as Speaker for a second term after five years.
