Following the recent controversies surrounding the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and the cancellation of UGC-NET due to integrity concerns, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized the need for discussions conducted with respect and adherence to established norms.
"The government is open to thorough discussions, provided they are conducted within the framework of tradition and decorum. The President's recent remarks on these exams underscore our commitment to addressing any issues. Our foremost responsibility is towards the youth and students of our nation," said Dharmendra Pradhan.
"We are prepared to present our stance clearly. There should be no confusion. We are taking stringent actions, and the CBI is actively pursuing all individuals involved. Senior officials have taken charge at NTA following necessary changes, highlighting our dedication," he added.
"We are resolute in our approach. A credible high-level committee has been formed for reforms, and exam dates will be announced soon. I urge the opposition to move beyond politics and engage constructively," Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized.
Meanwhile, opposition leaders, including Rajya Sabha LoP and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, persist in their demand for a focused discussion on alleged irregularities in the NEET examination under Rule 267 in the House.
Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda expressed grave concern over the recurrent issue of paper leaks across the country, particularly highlighting numerous cases in Haryana. He criticized Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for allegedly evading responsibility amidst the NEET exam paper leak. Hooda noted that when the opposition raised these concerns in the House, their microphone was abruptly turned off, leading to discontent among opposition MPs.
"The youth's future is being jeopardized due to frequent paper leaks," Hooda stated. "We demand a thorough discussion on this critical issue."
Regarding the NEET-UG and UGC-NET exams, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) initiated a criminal case on June 23 to investigate alleged irregularities in the exams conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The agency's FIR mentioned "isolated incidents" during the NEET (UG) 2024 examination held on May 5, 2024.
The NEET (UG) 2024 exam took place across 4,750 centers in 571 cities, including 14 cities abroad, with over 23 lakh candidates participating. The Ministry of Education responded to concerns by forming a high-level committee of experts tasked with recommending reforms to enhance examination processes, bolster data security protocols, and improve the NTA's operations.

उन्होंने कहा, "हम अपना रुख स्पष्ट रूप से प्रस्तुत करने के लिए तैयार हैं। इसमें कोई भ्रम नहीं होना चाहिए। हम कड़ी कार्रवाई कर रहे हैं और सीबीआई सभी संबंधित व्यक्तियों की सक्रियता से तलाश कर रही है। आवश्यक बदलावों के बाद वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों ने एनटीए में कार्यभार संभाल लिया है, जो हमारे समर्पण को दर्शाता है।"
