The United Kingdom and the United States are preparing to sign a landmark technology agreement worth several billion dollars during President Donald Trump&rsquo;s upcoming visit to London. The deal is designed to deepen cooperation in critical sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, telecommunications and quantum computing, strengthening ties between the two trillion-dollar tech economies.
&ldquo;Cutting-edge technology such as AI and quantum computing will transform our lives,&rdquo; said UK Technology Secretary Liz Kendall, who recently took charge of the ministry. Officials said the agreement would open new avenues for businesses and consumers on both sides of the Atlantic, boosting innovation and investment.
Trump is scheduled to arrive in London on Tuesday for a three-day state visit. He will be accompanied by top U.S. executives, including Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and OpenAI&rsquo;s Sam Altman, underscoring the strategic weight of the partnership.
As part of the package of announcements expected during the visit, global investment giant BlackRock plans to channel $700 million into new British data centers, aligning with the broader push to build trans-Atlantic digital infrastructure.
Both governments have already outlined national AI action plans this year, with U.S. firms like Anthropic and OpenAI expanding in London, while UK-based companies such as DeepMind continue to anchor collaborations across the Atlantic.
