A major tragedy struck Madhya Pradesh&rsquo;s Khandwa district when a tractor-trolley carrying devotees returning from Durga idol immersion overturned into a pond in Ardala village of the Pandhana area. At least 11 people lost their lives, while several others were injured.
The trolley was reportedly carrying around 25 passengers, including women and children. A metal cage fitted on the trolley is said to have trapped people inside, making escape difficult when the vehicle plunged into the water. Among the deceased were eight young girls.
Rescue operations began immediately, with police, administration, and local residents pulling out bodies and saving survivors. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The Chief Minister announced compensation for the victims&rsquo; families and ordered a detailed inquiry into the incident. Officials are investigating whether overloading or lack of safety measures caused the tragedy. The entire region has been left in grief following the accident.
