In a major push towards digital governance, the Gujarat government has launched its ambitious Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Plan 2025-2030 to integrate cutting edge technology into public administration. Approved by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the five year roadmap aims to strengthen decision-making, streamline service delivery, and enhance transparency through AI powered systems.
The plan is part of the broader Viksit Gujarat@2047 vision and aligns with national goals outlined under Viksit Bharat@2047. A 10-member AI Taskforce Committee, under the Department of Science and Technology, helped frame the strategy.
At the heart of the initiative is a newly established AI and DeepTech Mission, which will spearhead the state&rsquo;s AI deployment, foster collaborations among startups, academia, and industry, and facilitate policy implementation.
The action plan outlines six pillars:

Data Governance: A secure and interoperable digital ecosystem will be created to manage data across sectors.

Digital Infrastructure: GPU capabilities, cloud storage, and AI factories in smaller cities will be expanded.

Capacity Building: Over 2.5 lakh individuals including students, MSMEs, and government employees will be trained in AI, ML, and allied technologies.

Research &amp; Development: Academia and industry will co-develop AI models tailored to public sector needs.

Startup Ecosystem: DeepTech entrepreneurs will receive incubation, mentorship, infrastructure, and seed funding support.

Ethics and Safety: AI applications will be governed by ethical standards, safety protocols, and audit mechanisms.

Initial phases will include setting up data repositories, development centres, and pilot projects in departments like health and education. The plan builds on Gujarat&rsquo;s existing efforts, such as the AI Centre of Excellence at GIFT City, government staff training programmes, high-performance GPU setup, and an AI Innovation Challenge.
Officials say the roadmap marks Gujarat&rsquo;s firm step toward future ready governance, ensuring citizen centric services powered by responsible AI.
