The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Saturday accused the Election Commission of showing bias toward a particular political party and overburdening Booth Level Officers (BLOs) amid the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. 
The party also held the poll panel responsible for recent deaths of BLOs in West Bengal.
A delegation led by state minister Aroop Biswas submitted a deputation at the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) in Kolkata, alleging serious irregularities in the SIR process.
"The work of 2 years is being done in 2 months. The Commission is allegedly trying to give an advantage to a political party. The names of 150 to 200 voters are being deliberately deleted from each booth. The Commission&rsquo;s website is full of mistakes. Several people are dying due to the Commission&rsquo;s negligence," Biswas said. He was accompanied by state minister Chandrima Bhattacharya and MP Partha Bhowmick.
The TMC leaders claimed that BLOs are being compelled to work without adequate training, resulting in extreme stress and worsening working conditions.
Chandrima Bhattacharya alleged that 34 citizens in West Bengal have died due to fear related to the SIR process. 
She said the Election Commission must take responsibility for the deaths.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has already written to the Election Commission demanding suspension of the SIR exercise. 
In her letter, she cited the overwhelming pressure on BLOs and inadequate infrastructure, saying such a crucial process cannot be completed within the current timeline. 
She also warned that common citizens would suffer due to the rushed implementation.
The TMC&rsquo;s criticism intensified after the suicides of two female BLOs in the state. 
On Saturday, Rinku Tarafdar (51), a BLO in the Shasthitala area of Krishnanagar, Nadia, was found hanging in her home.&nbsp;
Police recovered a suicide note in which she blamed the Election Commission for her death.
On November 19, another female BLO, Shanti Muni Ekka, died by suicide in Mal Bazar, Jalpaiguri. 
Her family claimed she was unable to cope with the pressure of SIR-related work. 
On the same day, a BLO named Tapati Biswas suffered a cerebral attack while conducting SIR duties.
