Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar released a video message on Saturday addressing citizens ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, asserting that he has served the people with &ldquo;honesty and hard work&rdquo; since assuming office in 2005.
In the over three-minute video, the Janata Dal (United) leader reflected on the state&rsquo;s progress under his leadership, recalling that &ldquo;being a Bihari was once considered an insult&rdquo; when he first took charge as Chief Minister.
&ldquo;My dear brothers and sisters of Bihar, you have given me the opportunity to serve you since 2005. When we took over, the condition of the state was dismal , being a Bihari was seen as a matter of insult. Since then, we have worked day and night with honesty and dedication to change that perception,&rdquo; Kumar said.
Highlighting his government&rsquo;s achievements, Kumar noted improvements in education, healthcare, infrastructure, electricity, drinking water, agriculture, and youth employment.
He also emphasized women&rsquo;s empowerment, claiming that earlier administrations had neglected women&rsquo;s welfare. 
&ldquo;The previous government did not do any work for women. We have made them strong and independent, capable of managing their families and children on their own,&rdquo; he stated.
Kumar reiterated that his governance has been inclusive. &ldquo;Whether Hindu, Muslim, upper caste, backward, Dalit, or Mahadalit, we have worked for everyone. I have not done anything for my own family,&rdquo; he declared.
The Chief Minister, who took oath for a record ninth time in 2024 after reuniting with the BJP, said Bihar has now earned respect across the country. 
&ldquo;Today, being a Bihari is a matter of pride, not insult,&rdquo; he said.
Appealing to voters for support, Kumar added, &ldquo;Give us one more chance. We will continue to develop Bihar so much that it will soon be among India&rsquo;s top states.&rdquo;
The 243-member Bihar Assembly will go to polls in two phases on November 6 and 11, with counting scheduled for November 14.
