External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York, where he conveyed India&rsquo;s appreciation for the UN chief&rsquo;s consistent support for the country&rsquo;s growth and development.
During the meeting, Jaishankar discussed the current global order and key regional issues, acknowledging Guterres&rsquo; insights. 
He also expressed India&rsquo;s intention to host the Secretary-General in the near future.

The interaction came shortly after Guterres conveyed his condolences to India following the recent explosion near the Red Fort in Delhi. 
His Deputy Spokesperson, Farhan Haq, said the Secretary-General had extended sympathies &ldquo;for what happened there,&rdquo; noting that the incident &ldquo;needs to be fully investigated.&rdquo;
The explosion occurred on Monday evening when a Haryana-registered car parked near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station detonated, resulting in multiple fatalities and leaving more than 20 people injured.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the act, stating, &ldquo;Our agencies will get to the bottom of this conspiracy. All those responsible will be brought to justice.&rdquo;
The Union Cabinet declared the incident a terrorist attack, describing it as &ldquo;a heinous terror incident, perpetrated by anti-national forces, through a car explosion.&rdquo;
It further directed that the investigation proceed &ldquo;with the utmost urgency and professionalism so that the perpetrators, their collaborators, and their sponsors are identified and brought to justice without delay.&rdquo;
