Indian equity markets continued their winning streak on Monday, closing higher for the sixth consecutive session as upbeat investor sentiment carried forward last week&rsquo;s momentum.
The Sensex settled at 84,950.95, gaining 388.17 points or 0.46 percent. The index opened strongly at 84,700.50, remained in the green throughout the day, and hit an intraday high of 84,988.09 before dipping to a low of 84,581.08.
The Nifty also advanced, closing at 26,013.45, up 103.40 points or 0.40 percent, comfortably crossing the key psychological barrier of 26,000.
Analysts said the market&rsquo;s steady rise reflects optimism around a possible trade deal, which investors see as a major catalyst for further upside. Stronger-than-expected Q2 earnings from midcap companies have also lifted confidence, improving the overall risk-reward outlook and hinting at potential future earnings upgrades.
Among the major gainers on the Sensex were Eternal, Maruti Suzuki, Kotak Bank, Mahindra &amp; Mahindra, Tech Mahindra, Titan, HDFC Bank, PowerGrid, HCL Tech, L&amp;T, and NTPC. Tata Motors PV, Asian Paints, Ultratech Cement, and Tata Steel ended in the red.
Sectoral indices largely traded higher, reflecting broad market participation. Nifty Financial Services gained 154 points (0.56 percent), Nifty Bank rose 445 points (0.76 percent), Nifty Auto jumped 232 points (0.85 percent), Nifty FMCG added 116 points (0.21 percent), and Nifty IT finished 73 points (0.20 percent) higher.
The broader markets moved in tandem. Nifty Smallcap 100 climbed 95 points (0.52 percent), Nifty Midcap 100 surged 441 points (0.73 percent), and Nifty 100 rose 111 points (0.42 percent), highlighting widespread buying interest.
