Senior advocate Yatin Oza has been elected President of the Gujarat High Court Advocates' Association (GHCAA), marking yet another chapter in his decades-long association with one of the country&rsquo;s most influential bar bodies.
Oza defeated his nearest rival, Babubhai Mangukiya, by a margin of 247 votes in an election that saw active participation from the legal community. The result underlines Oza&rsquo;s continued support base among advocates practising before the Gujarat High Court.
This victory marks Oza&rsquo;s 19th term as GHCAA president, an achievement that underscores his enduring presence and leadership within the association. He first assumed the role in 1994 at the age of 35, becoming one of the youngest to head the body. Over the years, he has also served the association in various capacities, including vice president and secretary.
The elections also resulted in the formation of a new executive committee. Prithvirajsinh Jadeja was elected vice president, Bhavik Pandya as secretary, Darshan Shah as joint secretary, and Ami Patel as treasurer, setting the stage for the association&rsquo;s leadership for the coming term.
Apart from his role at the bar, Oza has previously served as a Member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly from Sabarmati between 1995 and 2001. His career has seen both prominence and controversy, including legal battles related to his senior advocate designation, making him a frequently discussed figure in Gujarat&rsquo;s legal circles.
With this fresh mandate, Oza is expected to focus on issues concerning advocates&rsquo; welfare, court infrastructure, and engagement with the judiciary, areas that have traditionally been central to the GHCAA&rsquo;s agenda. His return to the helm signals continuity and experience at a time when the legal profession is navigating evolving professional and institutional challenges.
