Israeli forces have killed two Palestinians, including a 16 year old boy, during separate military raids in the Jenin governorate in the occupied West Bank, according to Palestinian officials, further intensifying tensions in the region.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health said the teenager, Rayyan Abdel Qader, was shot dead after Israeli forces entered the town of Qabatiya. The second victim, identified as 22 year old Ahmad Zayoud, was killed during another operation in Silat al Harithiya, west of Jenin.
Eyewitnesses stated that Abdel Qader was shot directly as Israeli troops stormed the area. Locals alleged that emergency medical teams were prevented from reaching him for several minutes, during which he bled severely. His body was later taken away by Israeli forces.
The Health Ministry said Zayoud was shot in the chest during clashes in his village. A 15 year old boy was also injured in the same incident after sustaining a gunshot wound to his hand.
The killings come amid a surge in Israeli military operations across the northern West Bank, particularly in the Jenin area, which has witnessed repeated raids and confrontations in recent months. Zayoud&rsquo;s death follows the killing of another 16 year old in the same region last week.
Israeli authorities have claimed that the use of force followed alleged attacks on soldiers, including the throwing of stones or explosives. However, Palestinian officials and residents have disputed these claims, describing the incidents as excessive use of force during raids in residential areas.
Human rights groups have repeatedly raised concerns over the growing number of Palestinian minors killed in the West Bank since 2023, warning of a pattern of lethal force being used during arrest operations and military incursions.
As violence continues to escalate, the latest deaths have renewed international concern over civilian safety and accountability in the occupied Palestinian territories.
