US President Donald Trump has once again asserted that he played a key role in brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, along with ending several other global conflicts. In a recent post on Truth Social, Trump claimed credit for mediating peace in multiple hotspots, including the 31-year conflict between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, and what he described as the "bloodbath" between India and Pakistan.
Trump&rsquo;s remarks were aimed at American radio host Charlamagne Tha God, whom he criticized for not acknowledging his alleged diplomatic achievements, including "wiping out Iran&rsquo;s nuclear capabilities" and "ending five wars."&nbsp;The claim follows a statement by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who praised the President&rsquo;s global peace initiatives and suggested he be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Leavitt listed ceasefires Trump purportedly brokered, including between Israel and Iran, Serbia and Kosovo, and India and Pakistan stating that he averaged &ldquo;one peace deal per month&rdquo; during his six months in office.
Back home, India has firmly dismissed these assertions. During a Rajya Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar confirmed that no communication took place between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Trump between April 22 and June 16.&nbsp;India&rsquo;s longstanding position remains unchanged: it does not accept third-party mediation in matters related to Pakistan. Jaishankar emphasized that any resolution must be strictly bilateral and conducted through formal military channels like the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMO).
"When Operation Sindoor was underway, several countries sought clarification," Jaishankar stated. "We made it clear, there was no room for external mediation. Our actions were in response to an attack, and we would only consider cessation if a formal request came through proper military channels."&nbsp;
