Residents of Khar tehsil in Pakistan&rsquo;s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province took to the streets on Thursday to protest alleged shelling by the Pakistan Army on their homes and mosques during an anti-terror operation.
According to local reports, protesters claimed that the army targeted multiple civilian structures, including residential houses and mosques, in the Kosar area and its surrounding localities such as Lra Banda, Shagi, Delhi, Janat Shah, and Gooro.
The demonstrations took place along the Bajaur-Peshawar Highway, where protesters blocked traffic by sitting on the road, halting vehicular movement. 
Several political and social activists, including members of the Bajaur Aman Jirga led by its chief Sahibzada Haroon Rashid, also joined the protest.
The demonstrators alleged that the military&rsquo;s actions were in violation of an agreement between residents and authorities, which promised that local populations would not be targeted during anti-terror operations.
Rashid, addressing the protesters, said the attack &ldquo;was a clear violation of the agreement made by authorities with them (residents) on August 14 before an operation was launched in Mamund tehsil that the civilian population wouldn&rsquo;t be targeted.&rdquo;
Other speakers, including Nawagai tehsil council chairman and senior PTI leader Dr Khalilur Rehman, urged authorities to ensure the protection of public life and property during ongoing operations.
The protests continued for several hours before Rashid informed participants that the deputy commissioner and local authorities had assured him civilians would not be targeted further during the military action.
