Israeli military operations in southern Syria have increased sharply, with more than 30 incursions recorded in the first half of November, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The monitoring group said Israeli forces carried out ground penetrations, detained civilians and soldiers, bulldozed roads and farmland, and established temporary checkpoints across Quneitra and Daraa provinces. 
It described the escalation as an &ldquo;unprecedented surge&rdquo; occurring &ldquo;in the absence of any formal response&rdquo; from Damascus.
The Observatory noted that daily violations highlight &ldquo;mounting security challenges along the southern border,&rdquo; where Israel has expanded its presence since late 2024. 
The Israel Defense Forces reportedly set up at least nine permanent outposts inside Syrian territory in mid-2025 and established a 15-kilometre &ldquo;zone of control.&rdquo;
Israel has warned that southern Syria must not become &ldquo;another southern Lebanon,&rdquo; and has threatened &ldquo;painful blows&rdquo; against armed groups or Syrian forces nearing the frontier. 
Tensions intensified further in July after Israeli strikes and raids following clashes in the Druze-majority province of Sweida. 
Israel said it would continue to &ldquo;operate forcefully&rdquo; until &ldquo;perceived threats&rdquo; were neutralised.
Despite criticism from the United Nations, Egypt, and Turkiye over breaches of Syrian sovereignty, Israeli officials assert their actions are defensive and argue that Syrian authorities do not fully control the region.
