Yemeni government troops successfully repelled a major Houthi offensive in southern Yemen&rsquo;s Dhalea province, killing three militants and inflicting equipment losses during an intense hour-long battle.
The clash erupted when Houthi fighters launched a heavy artillery barrage in the Bab Ghalaq area of northern Dhalea, attempting to breach government defensive lines. Alert troops held their ground, engaging in fierce firefights that eventually forced the attackers to retreat in disarray toward their original positions.
Military sources confirmed that five government soldiers were wounded in the confrontation, while the Houthis suffered both personnel and equipment losses. The rebel group has not issued a statement on the incident.
Despite a UN-brokered truce collapsing at the end of 2022, Yemen has largely seen a fragile calm, though sporadic flare-ups continue. The conflict, which began in 2014, has left hundreds of thousands dead and millions facing severe food insecurity, as peace talks struggle to gain traction.
