A tragic incident in Udaipur&rsquo;s Kotra area claimed the life of a 12-year-old girl after the balcony of an under-construction government school collapsed on Friday. Another girl was injured in the accident.
The mishap occurred in Patharwadi village, a tribal region, where a senior secondary school is being built. Victims Moli (12) and Payal (11) were playing nearby when the structure gave way. Moli, visiting from Gau Pipal village, died on the spot, while Payal is hospitalised.
Villagers have accused contractors of using substandard materials, sparking outrage. The Education Department clarified that the school is not yet functional, with classes held at a nearby building.
On the same day in Bundi, five students were injured when a false ceiling collapsed during Independence Day celebrations at St. Paul Senior Secondary School. Another wall collapse in Nainwan&rsquo;s Government Higher Primary School caused no injuries.
These incidents come weeks after the July 25 Jhalawar school collapse that killed seven children, raising concerns over safety standards in Rajasthan&rsquo;s educational infrastructure. Opposition leaders have blamed government negligence and called for urgent reforms.
