Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Madhya Pradesh on May 31 to mark the concluding ceremony of the 10-day celebrations commemorating the 300th birth anniversary of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar.
During the event in Bhopal, PM Modi will release a special ₹300 coin and a commemorative postage stamp featuring the revered Maratha queen. He will also present the National Devi Ahilyabai Award to a prominent woman artist for outstanding contributions to tribal, folk, and traditional arts.
The Prime Minister is set to attend the 'Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Mahila Sashaktikaran Mahasammelan', beginning at 11:15 a.m. He will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for a range of development projects, followed by a public address. Weather forecasts suggest potential delays due to expected thunderstorms and light rainfall.
Key highlights of the visit include the laying of the foundation stone for ghat development along the Kshipra River, with an investment of ₹860 crore&mdash;part of preparations for the Simhastha Mahakumbh in Ujjain in 2028.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will initiate the first instalment for the construction of 1,271 Atal Gram Sushasan Bhawans, with a budget of over ₹480 crore. These centres aim to enhance local governance through improved infrastructure for record-keeping, official meetings, and village administration. Associated civil works include barrages, stop dams, and vented causeways to manage water flow.
PM Modi will also inaugurate new airports in Datia and Satna, enhancing air connectivity in the Vindhya region and supporting economic growth across tourism, education, healthcare, and industry.
Further, the Prime Minister will virtually launch the Indore Metro rail project, kicking off passenger services on the Yellow Line&rsquo;s Super Priority Corridor. The initiative is expected to reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality, and provide a smoother commuting experience.
Approximately two lakh women from 16 districts within a 500-km radius of Bhopal have been invited to attend the Mahila Sammelan.
The programme will be held at Jamburi Maidan at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited and will feature key dignitaries including Governor Mangu Bhai Patel, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Deputy CMs Rajendra Shukla and Jagdish Devda, Cabinet Minister Prahlad Patel, and others. State ministers Sampatiya Uike, Nirmala Bhuria, Pratima Bagri, Radha Singh, and Mayor Malti Rai will also be present. The event will be compered by Minister Krishna Gaur.
Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya noted that the 10-day celebration highlights the enduring legacy of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar in governance, cultural preservation, and women's empowerment.
