A fierce political confrontation reignited in Assam as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi exchanged sharp barbs once again. The latest round began when Sarma reiterated his earlier claim that Gogoi is &ldquo;100 percent a Pakistani agent&rdquo; allegedly &ldquo;planted by foreign powers.&rdquo;
Speaking to reporters in Guwahati on Friday, Sarma declared, &ldquo;Gaurav Gogoi is a Pakistani agent, he has been planted by foreign powers in our country.&rdquo; The chief minister further challenged that a defamation case could be filed against him if his statements were proven false. &ldquo;I have sufficient information and evidence to support my claim,&rdquo; he said, adding that he would reveal the details &ldquo;at the right time.&rdquo;

Sarma also remarked that he has refrained from holding a full press conference on the issue so far to avoid accusations of diverting attention from the recent death of popular singer Zubeen Garg.
Responding sharply to these remarks, Gaurav Gogoi accused the chief minister of using baseless allegations for political mileage. Taking to social media, Gogoi wrote, &ldquo;Over the past few months, Himanta Biswa Sarma dangoriya has lost credibility. When the entire state was mourning and watching Zubeen Garg&rsquo;s final performance in Roi Roi Binale, the Chief Minister&rsquo;s comments revealed his growing fear of losing power. It shows why he is unfit to be the Chief Minister of Assam.&rdquo;
