The Bihar Police Headquarters has sounded a statewide high alert after intelligence suggested that three Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) operatives entered the state through the Nepal border.
The suspects &ndash; Hasnain Ali (Rawalpindi), Adil Hussain (Umerkot), and Mohammad Usman (Bahawalpur) &ndash; reportedly reached Kathmandu in mid-August and crossed into Bihar last week.
Authorities have circulated their passport details across key border districts, including Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Supaul, Araria, East and West Champaran, and Kishanganj. Surveillance has been intensified, with district intelligence units instructed to monitor suspicious movements and verify identities.
Officials have not revealed the exact point of entry, citing security concerns, but all border areas are under strict watch. The porous India-Nepal border and visa-free movement under bilateral treaties make such infiltration a serious security challenge.
Security measures have been strengthened in the Seemanchal region, and units including the ATS, STF, and local police are on high alert. The alert comes ahead of Bihar&rsquo;s Assembly elections and follows previous counter-terror operations, including the NIA-led crackdown on PFI modules in Patna&rsquo;s Phulwari Sharif.
Authorities are warning of potential threats to prominent leaders and election events, emphasising vigilance across the border and urban districts.
